NOTICE: October 20th meeting Board of Directors open elections

be there to vote for your COPNA leaders for 2010 (Members only)

    1.      Stem the rate of foreclosures, keep owners in their homes however possible, and get first time home owners into the vacant homes. Working with the St Pete Neighborhood Housing Association (www.StPeteNHS.org) we can help the residents of Central Oak Park do all of these things.  Please pass along this information to anyone having financial problems with their mortgage. Don’t let your neighbors walk away from their homes. This is the real Obama Program that is completely FREE to anyone; our tax dollars have already paid for this program so we should promote it as much as possible. Vacant properties hurt all of us in many ways.

    2. We need to keep our neighborhood looking clean and maintained. Don’t let your property value be impacted by littered streets and overgrown yards in abandoned properties.  We are looking for volunteers for our new “Adopt A Street” program that we are forming with support from the great people at Keep Pinellas Beautiful ( www.keeppinellasbeautiful.org ). We have the resources to help those in our community that are unable to maintain their yards; we just need to match the truly qualified residents that need help with our gracious “Yard Gnomes”.  Visit the COPNA website at WWW.COPNA.ORG to volunteer or recommend a candidate.

         3. Regain the confidence of the community that Central Oak Park is a safe place to live. Nobody should have to live in their own home in fear.  Of course we all know that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The SPPD Crime Prevention Program will provide FREE home safety inspections.  Under the CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) program an Officer will visit your home and suggest ways to improve your security. For truly qualified residents, our gracious COPNA volunteers will then help you make the improvements. Call the Crime Prevention Unit at 893-7128 and ask for a Home Security Survey; and don’t forget to let COPNA know when your SPPD visit is scheduled so that we can follow up with you afterwards. Send any questions about the program to info@COPNA.org .

With your help and participation we can turn around our community.  Don’t let this downward spiral continue; there are many things that each of us can do in our neighborhood to improve the situation. Take one small step in that direction and before you know it, we will have a community marching together to get the job done. It all starts with the residents; ask yourself “What kind of neighborhood do I want to live in?” It can be great if you decide to make it so.  Please let any COPNA Board member know if you want to run for one of the COPNA BO positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer.

JOIN the Central Oak Park Neighborhood Association for only $10. per person a year.  This small donation goes along way to keeping the community programs going and the residents informed.
