Mattie Wright receiving the Lifetime Achivement award from the COPNA.
Sixth Ave North in Central Oak Park neighborhood was full of neighbors and friends as the residents had their first COPNA Block Party on Saturday June 13th.  The “meet your neighbors” idea was the brainchild of Andrew Schwartz and his wife Fabienne, who thought it was a great way to meet people in the area and a great experience of sharing for the children.  The street was barricaded at 37th St N and Lafayette St allowing for a street full of fun. Featuring great home made dishes (chocolate brownies were a big hit) and BBQ along with snow cones made the day. And the group never let the heat of the day put a damper on the festivities. The SP Fire Department brought one of the engines for the kids to have pictures taken with the friendliest Fire Fighters on the force (see the smiles on those kids). The kids big and small were all thrilled when the party was joined by a neighbor dressed as Capt Jack the Pirate (special thanks to the Captain). COPNA sends their highest gratitude for all the people who donated food, time, energy and miscellaneous items to make this a success.  Let COPNA President, Ron Rolland know if you want to have a Block Party on your street.
